Sun Shines for Stonehaven RNLI Open Day
Stonehaven RNLI crew opened the doors of their new shed to invited guests and the public on Saturday 30th April 2016.
They were joined by the volunteer crew members from flank stations in Aberdeen and Montrose. Both boats from these stations set sail on a lovely calm sea, co-ordinating their approach to meet at a set time. A rendez vous point was set up for the three boats to meet and came ashore in turn to the delights of the crowd.
The Stonehaven RNLI closed its doors in 1984 and on Saturday crewman from that era were reunited and tales from the ‘good old days’ were regaled.
Crews, families and the public were treated to food and beverages whilst the Stonehaven crew showed both their kit and our boat, The Joyce and Jack Burcombe, to interested guests. Both boats left Stonehaven with well fed, happy crew, ready to meet again soon at the next joint exercise.
