St Ives RNLI lifeboat crew rescue three people from rocks below Hell's Mouth
On Tuesday 25 July, one adult and two older children wearing wetsuits were successfully rescued off the rocks below Hell’s Mouth at Godrevy by the St Ives RNLI volunteer inshore lifeboat crew.
During the early evening, three people were spotted on the rocks by a person who was walking along the cliffs. A 999 call was made and the Falmouth Coastguard requested a launch by the St Ives RNLI.
Within minutes of being paged the inshore lifeboat volunteer crew, Nick Philips, David Holland-Kemp and Jonathan Harvey, were on the scene. The Portreath Coastguard and Cliff Rescue team were also involved and reported that the group were coasteering towards Fisherman’s Cove but were being hindered by the incoming tide. In fine weather conditions, the group were rescued from the rocks and taken to safety to the nearest cove.
The inshore lifeboat crew returned to station within 20 minutes.
