This Sunday was not a day of rest for Helensburgh RNLI Lifeboat Crew!

Lifeboats News Release

At 0007 hours on Sunday 13th January 2019 HM Coastguard requested the launch of Helensburgh RNLI Lifeboat to a report of a person in the water at James Watt Dock, Greenock.

Having launched, after 5 minutes they were then stood down as no longer required.

At 1117 hours on Sunday 13th January 2019 HM Coastguard requested the attendance of Helensburgh RNLI Lifeboat to attend James Watt Dock as there was concern for a person who was on the water side of the security fence. The lifeboat was already in the water on a training exercise and started to attend. At 1127 they were stood down.

At 1425 on Sunday 13th January 2019 HM Coastguard requested Helensburgh RNLI Lifeboat to go to standby as MV Kingdom of Fife had recovered two kayakers who had capsized in Loch Goil. There was a need to transfer them to waiting ambulances at Carrick Castle. As the weather was force 6-7 at the time it was necessary to assess the risk to crew and casualties. At 1505 hours the lifeboat was launched and attended the scene, transferring the two persons to waiting ambulances. They returned to station and were ready for service at 1640 hours.
