Rock RNLI assist grounded yacht
Rock RNLI's lifeboat 'Rusper II' was launched at 6.19am this morning, on the request of the Coastguard to a ten metre yacht grounded on rocks near Padstow.
Early reports stated that the yacht may be on fire.
Following a very rapid launch, the lifeboat station’s volunteer crew arrived on scene and immediately confirmed there was no fire, but the boat was indeed firmly aground.
A tow was set up which took the yacht successfully off without damage. The grateful couple onboard were then towed to the safety of a deep water mooring nearby.
They were truly grateful for the assistance, with one of the casualties saying: 'We normally watch you all on TV!'
The volunteer crew and lifeboat returned to the station and prepared the boat ready for service again by 7.12am.
