Stephanie completes cycle challenge for Filey RNLI
When the Covid 19 pandemic forced the closure of the Lifeboat shop on Coble Landing, Filey, and curtailed many of the fund-raising activities, retired Nationwide Building Society employee, Stephane Luxton, set out to raise money for Filey Lifeboat.
Her target was that she should cycle along the beach from Filey Lifeboat House to Hunmanby Gap and back (about 5 miles) 100 times. Now some 450 miles and 73 hours later she has raised a fantastic £1700 which will go towards the running of the lifeboat station.
It has been a tremendous achievement by 69 years old Stephanie who had been holidaying in Filey for over 40 years before moving to the town last year and taking the Lifeboat, its crew and supporters to her heart.
A large crowd of supporters (all socially distanced) lined Coble Landing to greet and congratulate Stephanie on completing the epic journey and for raising a fabulous amount.
