Ex crew member returns to Withernsea RNLI as Deputy Launch Authority
On Wednesday 5 February, Matt Farrelley accepted a generous donation from the Withernsea and district Lions, in his new role as DLA.
Matt was previously at Withernsea RNLI for over six years but unfortunately had to leave as a member of the volunteer crew due to medical reasons.
He decided to come back as Deputy Launch Authority (DLA) as the role is shore based. Matt commented: ‘I am very happy to be back with the RNLI family in my new role, and I am looking forward to the year ahead.'
On the evening of Wednesday 5 February 2020, Matt accepted a generous donation from Withernsea and district Lions. Money which was raised at the Boxing Day dip in December 2019. Lynne Evans, president of the Lions presented the cheque. DLA Steve Medcalf said: 'We greatly appreciate all of the support from the Lions, the money will be put to good use and new training aids can now be purchased for the Helms to help train the crew.'
We could not continue saving lives at sea if it wasn’t for the generous donations we receive from our supporters.
