RNLI Mablethorpe welcomes round Britain's coast fundraiser
On Wednesday 26 February RNLI Mablethorpe was delighted to welcome Beth Wickes to the station as part of her challenging round Britain coastal walk. Beth is raising funds for three charities including the RNLI.
Beth started her walk in a clockwise direction from Tower RNLI Lifeboat Station, London on 3 October 2018 and now has approximately 500 miles to go before returning to her starting point, estimated to be at the end of May 2020.
When Beth decided to take on this epic fundraising trip her aim was to walk as much of the coast of Britain as possible plus some long distance inland paths, to raise awareness and funds for her three chosen charities which includes the RNLI.
Walking between 10-12 miles a day, Beth is doing this full-time without any support other the kindness of strangers offering assistance with accommodation, clothing, clothes washing facilities and transport for herself and her rucksack.
Mark Chambers, Deputy Launching Authority at RNLI Mablethorpe said: ‘We are extremely grateful to Beth for all she is doing to raise funds for our charity and congratulate her on her enormous achievements. The kindness and generosity of fundraisers such as Beth goes towards training and equipping our crew to enable us to continue our mission to save lives at sea.’
