Lifeboat Launching to today's incident

At 17:16 Saturday 20 June, Girvan's Shannon Class all-weather lifeboat was requested to launch for the 2nd time in 2 days.

This launch via the Coastguard operations centre in Belfast on request from the Scottish Ambulance Service was in relation to a multi agency incident near Ballantrae, with reports of persons in distress in the water.

Girvan lifeboat made best speed South West across the bay towards the incident, Stranraer ILB was also requested to Launch, Stranraer ILB made it's way via road to the incident.

Shortly after launching Girvan Lifeboat was requested to stand down.

This incident was a multi agency response from Girvan Lifeboat, Stranraer Lifeboat, Stranraer, Portpatrick, Ballantrae, Girvan Coastguard Rescue Teams, Scottish Fire and Rescue from Girvan and Maybole, Scottish Ambulance Service, Police Scotland and Rescue 199 Helicopter.

Girvan lifeboat returned to station and was made ready for the next service call.
