Withernsea RNLI volunteers recognise 'valued' crew member for 20 years service

The RNLI has recognised Withernsea volunteer Antony Binns on reaching 20 years service on station.

Antony joined the crew when he was 17 and has volunteered ever since. In 2006 he qualified as a Helmsman for Withernsea Lifeboat, following an intensive week long training course at the RNLI training college in Poole, Dorset.

He has continued to volunteer as a Helm for Withernsea RNLI and has since also become the station’s Mechanic.

Martin Woodhouse, RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager for Withernsea RNLI commented on Antony’s award saying: ‘To give 20 years as a volunteer in any organisation is very honourable. To us he is a very valued part of the team and we are pleased to see the RNLI recognise the same by awarding him the Long service award.’
