Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI volunteer crew assist in search for overdue vessel.

Tasked at 8.07pm Sunday 25 April by HM Coastguard, both the Atlantic Class Tony & Robert Britt and D Class lifeboats were launched whereupon they joined West Mersea Lifeboat in the search for the overdue vessel.

Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI searched several marina’s within the Crouch but found no trace of the overdue vessel.

The incident started shortly after Noon when South Woodham Coastguard Search and Rescue Team were tasked to investigate a possible overdue vessel at Heybridge Basin. Several locations were checked but no trace of the vessel was found so they were stood down pending their further enquiries.

As a result of these enquiries the search recommenced in the evening where they were joined by the volunteer crew from Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI.

No sightings of the vessel was made by the lifeboats and they were stood down around 10pm, returned to station and made ready for the next time they would be called upon.
