Children raise money by covering the distance between Cornish lifeboat stations

Isla, aged 10, and Sennen, aged 7, are taking part in the RNLI Cornwall Virtual Challenge 2021 to help support the RNLI's volunteer crews in saving lives around our coast.

The RNLI is a huge part of their lives as their dad, Mike Tame, is a Bude lifeboat volunteer crew member and celebrated 20 years of service on the Bude Lifeboat crew last year.

Isla and Sennen will run, walk or cycle the distance between all the Cornish Lifeboat Stations between them. There are a total of 13 RNLI lifeboat stations around the coast of Cornwall, from Bude to Looe with the total distance being 228 miles, so they will do at least 114 miles each.

As this challenge is virtual it will be undertaken locally not actually between the stations.

Their dad, volunteer RNLI crew member, Mike Tame said 'My kids are amazing, if any one can help them smash their target figure it would make all their efforts worthwhile. They are super excited about the prospect of the challenge and ready to go.'

To accompany them their mum, Lisa, will also be running the total distance between 1 Feb to 31 March.

The RNLI Cornwall Virtual Challenge 2021 is flexible, allowing participants to choose from a variety of distances between any of the 13 RNLI lifeboat stations around the coast of Cornwall.

Participants can complete any, or all, of the individual legs between the 13 RNLI stations (the total distance between Bude lifeboat station and Looe lifeboat station is 228 miles) at their own pace and by the activity of their choice. So, whether you'd prefer to run, walk, cycle or swim you can make this challenge your own.

Anyone who raises sponsorship of £50 or more receives a RNLI medal and certificate.
