About 5 pm on Wednesday 21 July 2021, the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) Portree Lifeboat and the SAS (Scottish Ambulance Service) were called to a middle age woman who had injured her lower leg and required urgent medical assistance. The Portree All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) along with their boarding boat, made safe speed to the north of Battery Green, Loch Portree. The Ambulance crew were already at the scene and attending to the casualty. Utilising the boarding boat and the ALB, the casualty was transported from the shore of the Scorrybreac Walk to the Portree Harbour Pontoon along with the attending ambulance crew. Once at the pontoon, the casualty was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Portree Lifeboat Coxswain Hamish Corrigall was quoted “This was a good multi-agency response with a successful outcome.” The lifeboat was made ready for the next service by 6.30 pm.
