The volunteer crew at Kippford RNLI launched just before 3.30pm on Sunday 25th July to reports of a broken down vessel in the Rough Firth area.

Arriving on scene in D-854 ‘Ronnie Sinclair’ the crew found 2 people on board a small rib which had lost engine power. The vessel was struggling to make headway back to Kippford against the ebbing tide.

After confirming that both persons on board were unharmed the helm John Robertson assessed the options and decided that the safest resolution was to take the rib under tow and return it to Kippford.

The rib was recovered just after 4pm with assistance of the RNLI shore crew and the persons onboard expressed their gratitude for the assistance provided.
