Lochinver RNLI lifeboat station holds record breaking gala day
The local fundraising guild held their first gala day for three years on Sunday 24 July 2022, at Lochinver harbour. Despite the threat of rain, the event was a huge success, raising £6,800, a record amount of vital funds.
People started to arrive at the harbour from 12.30pm and the initial trickle quickly became a crowd. All the stalls were soon busy and the barbecue was especially popular. A small army of local volunteers, both lifeboat crew and fundraisers, gave up their time to manage the event.
Many of the local businesses were incredibly generous in donating wonderful prizes for the raffle and together with members of the community, made substantial donations to the RNLI.
Karen Stewart, chairperson of the Lochinver RNLI fundraising guild said: “The response from the community and visitors alike was overwhelming and made the day such a marvellous success.”
