Lochinver RNLI crew awarded the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medal
Lochinver’s volunteer lifeboat crew and the full-time coxswain and mechanic were presented with their medals by Area Lifesaving Manager, Bruce Rae, following the station’s successful fundraising event on Sunday 24 July 2022.
All RNLI operational staff and volunteers, who had completed at least five years of service on 6 February 2022, qualified to receive the medal, together with members of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, front line emergency services personnel and prison services personnel.
Her Majesty The Queen has been Patron of the RNLI since 1952 and this is the fourth commemorative jubilee medal created and awarded by The Queen to thank all those awarded with it for their public service. Previous editions include the Silver Jubilee in 1977, Golden Jubilee in 2002 and Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
The crew receiving their medals and as featured in the below photograph from left to right are: Andrew Stewart, James Macaskill, Douglas Pirie, John Templeton, Lachlan Macaskill, Nicol Strang, George Bakker, David Macaskill, Fergus Mackay, Joseph Mackay and Janice Mackay.
Crew members Bruce Mackenzie and Robert Alexander Kinnaird were also awarded their Jubilee medals.
