St Agnes RNLI Lifeboat Tasked To Assist Boat With Engine Trouble
The D-Class inshore lifeboat was launched in calm conditions yesterday after a member of the public alerted the coastguard to a boat which appeared to be drifting.
Initial concerns were that the boat was uncrewed and with the possibility of a person in the water, the volunteer crew made good speed to the Bawden Rocks area where the boat had been sighted.
On arriving at the vessel the crew were relieved to find the owner on board, safe and well but unable to start the boat’s outboard engine. As luck would have it, an experienced RNLI technician, Tom Forehead, was on board and soon had the engine started.
Tom commented, “The boat owner had the right equipment for this eventuality, a good pair of oars, but it was a hot day and I think he was relieved not to have to row back to Trevaunance Cove!”
