Platinum Jubilee Beacon in Borth
To celebrate Her Majesty the Queen's Platinum Jubilee the RNLI will be lighting beacons simultaneously at seven different RNLI locations: Aith, Borth, Port Erin, Dover, Portrush, Staithes & Runswick, and St. Mary's lifeboat stations.
The Beacon will be lit at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday 2nd June. This time has been set to coincide with all the other Beacons around the world. Volunteers from Borth RNLI lifeboat station will be on hand to light the Beacon and have invited the community of Borth to come and celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee with them.
Key facts about the RNLI
The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 142,700 lives.
