Port Erin and Port St Mary RNLI seek new Lifeboat Press Officers

Lifeboat Press Officers are a vital part of the station and the wider RNLI. They work alongside the crew to promote their local station and its lifesaving work. This may be writing press releases about shouts and notable events at station, liaising with their local media and arranging interviews. Some Lifeboat Press Officers also run social media and help with editing videos.

Lifeboat Press Officers can come from all kinds of backgrounds, and full training is provided.

Phil Adams, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Port Erin said:

‘Volunteering with us gives people the opportunity to make a real difference in our local community here is Port Erin and become part of the larger RNLI family. We can’t keep people safe without the support of our wonderful volunteers, who truly make a difference every day no matter which role they are fulfilling.’

‘Becoming a volunteer Lifeboat Press Officer is a great chance to play a crucial part in helping to save lives. We’re looking for enthusiastic people with good communication and IT skills to be part of our amazing team here at Port St Mary.’

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts.
