40 years and counting for Borth RNLI Volunteer, Pete Davies.
Borth resident and RNLI stalwart Pete Davies is stepping down as a Helm after serving on the Borth lifeboat for 40 years.
Pete joined the Borth lifeboat crew in 1982 when he was 17 and has served as a Crew member and Helm ever since. In the unusual circumstances caused by the pandemic Peter was given an extension of his service, beyond the normal 55 years retirement age for a D Class lifeboat. Pete’s operational service continued whilst the station was unable to train his replacement thus he achieved the distinguished milestone of 40 years on the lifeboat.
Pete will continue in his role as Station Mechanic and will take up the position of Deputy Launching Authority, so his long lifesaving service to the community will continue.
Dave Reynolds, the Borth Lifeboat Operations Manager, said “I would personally like to thank Pete for his dedicated and selfless service” he added “Everyone at the station is delighted that he will continue to provide guidance and support using his exceptional knowledge and experience.”
