RNLI St Ives assist a yacht in trouble
RNLI St Ives launched today to help a yacht that had run aground.
The St Ives inshore lifeboat, Donald Dean, was launched on service at 10:48am on Tuesday 13 September. With Jack Hill as Helm they quickly made their way to a yacht that had run aground at Rampers behind Smeatons Pier.
When they arrived they found that a wave had re-floated the yacht but it had no engine power. A crew member went on board the yacht and attached a tow-line and the yacht was towed to the RNLI mooring in the bay.
The crew assessed the hull of the yacht for damage and they were happy that the hull was fine. The crew returned to the station to wash down the inshore lifeboat to make it ready for service.
