Ramsey RNLI launch to assist yacht with engine difficulties

Ramsey RNLI volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard at 8.27pm this evening (Monday 3rd April 2023) to the aid of a 30 foot yacht, with one person on board, which had suffered engine difficulties approximately 2 miles north east of Maughold Head.

At the time of the incident sea conditions were fine with a light offshore wind.

The volunteer lifeboat crew of the all-weather RNLB Ann and James Ritchie 2, under the command of Coxswain Mark Kenyon, launched at 8.42pm reached the casualty at 8.56pm. After establishing that the crewman was well the yacht was escorted back to Ramsey Harbour.

The lifeboat was recovered at 10.07pm, washed down and made ready for service.
