RNLI Lifeboat Responds to Distress Beacon
Volunteer Lifeboat crew from St Agnes RNLI launched the D-Class boat after reports of an alarm from a fishing vessel.
The inshore lifeboat was launched at 3:48pm and headed to a location near Portreath. On scene they found the Coastguard helicopter hovering above the fishing vessel. On investigation the team discovered that an automatic distress signal had been activated accidentally.
The lifeboat crew checked on the welfare of the fisherman, who was fine if a little surprised by a visit from the RNLI and a helicopter hovering over his boat. With all concerned safe and well, the lifeboat returned to station and was made ready for service by 4:58pm
