Back to back callouts for Crosshaven RNLI

Lifeboats News Release

Two back to back callouts yesterday evening for Crosshaven RNLI.

The volunteer crew were alerted to a 19’ motor boat with two people onboard that had mechanical issues and their anchor was dragging at the mouth of the harbour at Roches Point. The crew were paged at 7.45pm yesterday evening (Monday 31 July) and very quickly were on scene and established a tow to Monkstown Marina.

As the lifeboat was berthing the casualty at Monkstown, Valentia Coast Guard diverted the lifeboat to effect a Medevac at Rushbrook Hotel at the request of the National Ambulance Service who were treating a patient with a lower leg injury on the shoreline and having problems extracting to the Ambulance. Cobh Fire service were also in attendance.

The patient was placed on the lifeboat by stretcher and taken to the Ferry slipway before being handed back into the care of the paramedics.

The lifeboat returned to station at 10.50pm, was washed down, refuelled and declared ready for service once more at 11.30pm.
