RNLI Loch Ness receives cheers from Sea Scouts on Birthday Shout

Aberdeen Coastguard tasked the volunteer crew at Loch Ness RNLI to assist with a casualty vessel that had run aground on a sand bank on the wrong side of the channel marker Dochfour.

When on the scene, the helm spoke with the crew of 'Scout About' who had put a crew member on board the casualty vessel and had looked to assist by towing.

One of the lifeboat crew went aboard the vessel to assess if there were any injuries, water ingress or damage to the boat. All aboard were fit and well; the boat, however, was hard aground and not for moving.

RNLI volunteer crew members assisted the three casualties aboard the lifeboat. The helm informed the Coastguard that they were being recovered to the CG mobile unit's care at the Dochfoure pier.

Having handed over to the mobile unit, the lifeboat was stood down by the Coastguard.

Returning to the station the lifeboat met with the kayakers and paddle boarders of the 18th Inverness Sea Scout Group, who gave a spontaneous round of applause and a Hip, Hip Hooray for the RNLI.Coincidently it was the birthday of two of the volunteer lifeboat crew on board.

The crew then continued back to the station fitting in some navigation training on route, before making the lifeboat ready for next service.
