Arbroath inshore lifeboat crew attend back to back incidents

It was a busy Sunday afternoon for the volunteer crew at Arbroath lifeboat station yesterday (6 August), when they were tasked to attend two separate incidents in quick succession.

An initial request for assistance was received from HM Coastguard shortly after 12:30 pm, when a capsized boat was reported close to the entrance of Arbroath Harbour.

The RNLI crew were quickly on scene and recovered one casualty from the water, who had been clinging to the bow of the upturned boat, and transferred them to shore to be checked over by ambulance staff.

The crew then returned to the stricken vessel and were able to tow it to safe water within the outer harbour.

No sooner had the job been completed when a second tasking for the inshore lifeboat crew was received from HM Coastguard, this time requesting assistance to attend an incident close to the Gaylet Pot cave near Auchmithie.

Thankfully, upon arrival at scene it was quickly established that there was no further action required by the lifeboat crew and they were able to finally return to station.
