Padstow RNLI in multi-agency training with RNLI lifeguards and Coastguard
The charity’s all-weather lifeboat Spirit of Padstow launched on Wednesday evening (9 August) to attend a simulated multi-casualty and multi-agency rescue at Treyarnon Bay.
Padstow lifeboat crew, joined RNLI lifeguards and the Padstow Coastguard Rescue Team to work together to rescue multiple simulated casualties in the water at Treyarnon Bay.
The collaboration between lifeguards, lifeboat crews and Coastguard Rescue Teams helps all parties to understand each other’s expertise and equipment to perform more effective and efficient rescues.
The training exercise involved casualty assessment, transferring casualties from the lifeguards in-shore rescue boat onto the all-weather lifeboat and administering casualty care.
Padstow RNLI Coxswain Richard Pitman said ‘Joint exercises like this are incredibly useful and help to strengthen our working relationship with RNLI lifeguards and the Coastguard Rescue Team. Our lifeboat crew volunteers come together every week, year round to train, which is critical to ensure that we are always ready to save lives at sea.’
