Workington RNLI called out for second time in seven hours

Workington RNLI was called out for the second time in seven hours after a boat began taking on water in the Irish Sea.

The converted fishing boat got into difficulty off the coast at Ravenglass and the Coastguard alerted Workington RNLI at 6.54am today, August 18.

The volunteer crew launched the all-weather lifeboat Dorothy May White and a helicopter was also called out to assist. The crew reached the 17m vessel and towed the boat to Workington, arriving at around 12.30pm.

At 11.25pm last night, August 17, the crew was called out to help a rowing boat in distress.
This was the fourth call out for Workington RNLI this week.
