Dungeness RNLI launch to medical incident on an angling vessel
On Wednesday 23 August at 9.05am, Dungeness RNLI volunteers were paged to an angling vessel with a sick passenger that needed assistance approximately 9 miles south of Dungeness point.
The passenger was experiencing a medical episode and UK Coastguard tasked the lifeboat to retrieve the passenger and bring him into the care of the ambulance service for further checks.
The lifeboat and the volunteer crew launched at 9.30am and the skipper of the casualty vessel proceeded to head towards land so that the lifeboat could meet the vessel in good time.
Once the boats were together, the lifeboat crew extracted the casualty onto the lifeboat where casualty care was given.
The lifeboat was then recovered, and the casualty was handed into the care of emergency first responders and the ambulance service.
Coxswain, Jason Adams says:
‘The skipper did the right thing today in hailing UK Coastguard for assistance. He had the right equipment on board – a VHF radio, that allowed him to call for help. The casualty was checked over by the ambulance service and we wish him well.’
