Kayakers rescued by Porthdinllaen RNLI
Porthdinllaen RNLI Lifeboat were tasked by UK Coastguard after reports were received of two kayakers in difficulties near Borthwen.
The incident was reported by National Coastwatch personnel at their nearby Watchtower, who had been monitoring the situation. The lifeboat launched down her slipway within 10 minutes of the crew being paged and made the best possible speed to the reported position. Arriving on scene, the two kayaks were quickly located ashore at Borthwen but no sighting could be made of either persons.
The all-weather lifeboat's onboard Y Boat rescue craft was launched to carry a shoreline search and within a few minutes one of the casualties was found nearby ashore, who then confirmed that the second person was also ashore but had gone to look for help. Content that the casualties were accounted for and safe, the kakakers were handed over to the care of the local Coastguard team at Porthdinllaen, with the lifeboat returning to station to be refuelled and ready for the next service.
