The festive light switch-on marked the beginning of the celebrations. Flint RNLI volunteers were honoured to be invited to illuminate the town's Christmas lights alongside Flint Mayor Ben Goldsborough. The RNLI representatives showcased a diverse crew, including their youngest and oldest operational volunteers, as well as members of their management, fundraising team, and the RNLI mascot, highlighting the unity of the dedicated team. The RNLI stall, decorated with a festive tree from Bits4Vans, raised £425, which will go directly towards saving lives at sea.

On Friday (1 December), the annual RNLI Carol Concert featured performances by the Flint Ladies Voice Choir and soloist Rhian Carys Jones. Mince pies and hot drinks were served by the ladies of St David’s and St Mary’s Parish Church, raising a total of £217 on the night.

Saturday’s events began with the Flint RNLI Christmas Craft Fair hosted at Flint Town Hall. The fair boasted various stalls from local businesses, offering a range of crafts and treats. Attendees enjoyed hot drinks and cakes while perusing the stalls, contributing to a fundraising total of approximately £300 for the RNLI.

On Saturday night, The Boys and Girls Brigade held a festive and charitable Christmas bingo event. The event, held in Caergwrle, was a resounding success, raising an impressive £818 in support of the RNLI.

Sharon Brown, Flint RNLI Fundraiser, expressed gratitude for the community support: 'Our volunteer crews are always ready to leave their festive family plans and answer the call for help – even on Christmas Day.

'It has been a busy few days for our fundraising volunteers and we are so grateful to the community for their support, as all the funds raised will bring us closer to our goal of saving every one.'
