Mandy and Mick Rowland have been part of the Buckie RNLI fundraising team for over 18 years, distributing and maintaining the collection boxes across Moray, fostering fantastic relationships within the local community and raising in the region of £75,000 in donations during their time as volunteers.

As a result of their tireless support and dedication to fundraising for the RNLI, the couple have been awarded a certificate of thanks by the RNLI Chief Executive, Mark Dowie, presented under the Excellence in Volunteering Initiative which recognises those who have gone above and beyond in their support of the RNLI.

Unfortunately Mick was unable to attend the lifeboat station with his wife Mandy to receive their special recognition awards from Lifeboat Operation’s Manager, Anne Scott and Full-time Coxswain, David Grant, however his wife Mandy was delighted to be able to accept this on his behalf.

Anne Scott, Lifeboat Operations Manager said ‘Fundraisers are the beating heart of the RNLI and without volunteers like Mick and Mandy our lifeboat crews would not be able to continue saving lives at sea.

‘As a charity we receive no government funding and collection boxes are a hugely important source of income for the RNLI.

‘We are extremely grateful to Mick and Mandy for their hard work, and all our supporters who put a donation into our collection boxes’
