Casualty extraction

Volunteers from Newbiggin RNLI lifeboat station along with their partner rescue teams from the Newbiggin and Blyth coastguard ran a training exercise at Church Point, Newbiggin.

The scenario related to a missing injured person with an initial search with the training casualty located east of the village. With the casualty located the processes of treatment and extraction was carried out by members of both teams using the protocols set out in the casualty care cards. Once the exercise was completed all teams returned to the boathouse for a exercise debrief.

Ron Henderson Lifeboat Operations Manager at Newbiggin RNLI said ' The exercise was a great success and demonstrated the close working relationship between Newbiggin RNLI and the coastguard rescue teams. This closer working fosters a greater understanding of the operational rescue mechanisms where theory / classroom training was put into action on an on the ground simulation. Thank you to all involved and we look forward to the next exercise with our rescue partners.'
