Glamis Rainbows & Brownies visit Arbroath lifeboat station to support RNLI
Lifeboats News Release
Arbroath’s volunteer RNLI crew welcomed members of Glamis Rainbows & Brownies to their lifeboat station recently.
During the visit, the girls presented a cheque for £535, which was donated directly to Arbroath lifeboats. A further £215 was donated to the RNLI online via JustGiving.
The fantastic total of £750 had been raised earlier in the year by the Rainbows & Brownies when they completed a 2.5 mile sponsored walk around Forfar Loch as part of the Make Change badge, which the two units were working on
The Rainbows decided which charity to support through voting in the unit and the Brownies decided on a sponsored walk to raise funds.
While at the station, the group were shown the lifeboats and equipment used by the crew, who thoroughly enjoyed answering all the questions.
Ron Churchill, lifeboat operations manager at Arbroath RNLI, said “We’d like to say a big thank you to the girls, first for the big effort during the walk, and secondly for choosing the RNLI as the beneficiary of the funds raised.”
“£750 is a fantastic total and this will help ensure our crews continue to receive the training and equipment needed to save lives at sea.”
“We hope the girls had a great time at the station and, hopefully, in a few years time, we might see them joining a lifeboat crew somewhere!”
