Buckie Lifeboat crew send Night Before Christmas video greeting

Lifeboats News Release

The Buckie Lifeboat crew have made a video of the poem ‘The Night Before Christmas’ as a seasonal message of goodwill to their community.

Volunteer crew-member Lorna Cameron dreamt up the idea of recording the classic Christmas poem, and soon persuaded crewmates to join the fun. Coxswains, mechanics, navigators, crew, fundraisers – the whole Buckie Lifeboat team were quickly on board to support a good idea. The resulting video is on the RNLI Buckie Lifeboat page on Facebook at https://fb.watch/oY5TaSHF5W/.

“We train hard to save lives at sea, but there’s always time for the lighter side ashore”, says Lorna. “We wanted to send a Christmas message – and hopefully raise a few pounds to support our local training resources. Public donations are literally the only thing that keeps us afloat.”

Around the shores of Britain and Ireland this Christmas, crews from 238 RNLI lifeboat stations will be forgoing the wine to be ready to respond to the chirping of their pagers. Somewhere around the coast, a crew of mums, dads, brothers or sisters will likely abandon the turkey – and their families – to dash to save a life or lives at sea.

Anne Scott, lifeboat operations manager at Buckie, says: “As a volunteer ashore, I stand in awe of the dedication and courage our volunteer crew members display as they train and put to sea on service to save lives. We wish everyone a Happy, Peaceful and Safe Christmas – but if someone is in danger, our crew stands ready to help.”
