Fraserburgh RNLI volunteers called out in search

Fraserburgh RNLI lifeboat was tasked by HM Coastguard to assist in a search around Broadsea shore in Fraserburgh on Thursday 28 December.

The all-weather lifeboat, Willie & May Gall, was launched from Fraserburgh RNLI Lifeboat Station at 1:25pm and was on scene a few minutes later. They carried out an extensive search of the area along with the HM Coastguard helicopter rescue 151 from Inverness and Viper 1 from Aberdeen. Peterhead RNLI lifeboat, the, Misses Robertson of Kintail, was later tasked and arrived on scene at 5:32pm to assist with the search.

All parties were stood down at 9:15pm by HM Coastguard. The incident turned out to be a false alarm with good intent.

HM Coastguard was satisfied that there is no information to say anybody is missing and nobody has been reported missing either.

Fraserburgh RNLI lifeboat Coxswain, Dave Sutherland, praised his crew for their speedy response. Thanks to Fraserburgh RNLI's lifeboat, two rescue helicopters, Peterhead RNLI lifeboat and the Coastguard teams, all areas were searched before being stood down to ensure that there was nobody missing or in danger.

The Willie & May Gall returned to Fraserburgh RNLI Lifeboat Station and was refuelled and ready for its next service at 10:30pm
