RNLI St Ives help with a yacht with engine failure
At 5:11pm on Thursday 9 February St Ives volunteer crew launched the all weather Lifeboat, Nora Stachura on service. Falmouth Coastguard had requested we go the aid of a 34 foot sailing vessel located four miles north west of St Agnes Head that had engine failure whilst on route to Padstow.
With Robert Cocking as Coxswain, the all weather lifeboat quickly made way to the vessels location.
Arriving at the scene, it was clear the engine was inoperative and the sailing vessel crew requested a tow to safety. Falmouth coastguard contacted RNLI Padstow and requested they launch their all weather lifeboat and tow the vessel back to Padstow.
Once the Padstow lifeboat arrived at the scene, we handed the vessel over to them and we returned to St Ives. Due to the state of the tide the lifeboat was left on the mooring in the bay overnight and was recovered the following morning.
