Selsey RNLI respond to Personal Locater Beacon activation
The UK Coastguard requested the launch of the Selsey all-weather lifeboat on Wednesday 11 January after receiving a signal from a Personal Location Beacon (PLB).
The all-weather lifeboat launched at 5.20am and headed to a position off Pagham harbour as requested by the Coastguards. Within a minute of launching the lifeboat was stood down after the Coastguards received information that the PLB had been activated accidently. The weather was wind south west 3-4 sea state moderate in clear sky.
The lifeboat returned to station and was recovered straight away. The crew today were Coxswain Colin Pullenger, Mechanic Phil Pitham, James Albrey, Craig Sergeant, Harry Emmence, and Neil Hopcraft. Shore crew Head Launcher Chris Bowling, Slars Driver Frank Corby, Melisa Fletcher, Mark Penny, Richard Brady, and Paul Fairbrass.
