RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch assist motor cruiser on delivery voyage
The volunteers from RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch received their first tasking from HM Coastguard of 2023. At 3.30pm on Monday 23 January RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch were tasked to a motor cruiser with a lone sailor onboard that requested assistance.
Sensibly the lone sailor on the casualty vessel was wearing a life jacket. They were sailing the newly purchased motor cruiser from Dunkirk, France to final destination Brightlingsea when she ran out of fuel.
The lone sailor used the emergency fuel onboard to no avail so decided to drop anchor and call for assistance.
The volunteer helm from RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch assessed the situation and made the decision that the best and safest course of action was to take the casualty under tow back into Burnham Yacht Harbour where they were met by South Woodham Ferrers Coastguard.
