Double callouts for Girvan Lifeboat

At 17:55 Saturday 1st July, for the 1st callout Girvan Lifeboat was paged for immediate launch to the Loch Ryan area to a reported man Overboard from the Stena Superfast Ferry, as our volunteer crew battled a beam on Force 7 Westerly wind, approaching Ballantrae we stood down as news of the casualty having been recovered came through. Also in attendance were Stranraer RNLI, Coastguard Rescue Helicopter R199, and various Coastguard Rescue teams from along the South West Coast. Girvan Lifeboat returned to base back on station 19:00hrs

As the national news run refreshes this morning in relation to this story, we would like to express our sincere condolences to the casualties family, despite the best efforts of everyone involved, it sadly wasn't the outcome everyone wanted.

2nd callout of the day

At 20:55 Saturday 1st July, Girvan Lifeboat was requested to Launch to a person in difficulty near the Heads of Ayr, shortly after launching and heading North, information was received that the casualty had been recovered by Girvan Coastguard Rescue Team and Casualty Care provided and all assets stood down, also tasked to this callout were RNLI Troon Lifeboat HMCG Helicopter R199, Ayr CRT

Girvan Lifeboat now back on station ready for the next service call.
