RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch tasked to assist a grounded eight metre fishing vessel
RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch was tasked by HM Coastguard at 1.25pm on Sunday 9 July 2023 to assist an eight metre fishing vessel with four people onboard.
The Atlantic class lifeboat Tony and Robert Britt was launched into south westerly wind conditions gusting to twenty knots and proceeded to locate the casualties from the last known reported position.
They eventually located the fishing vessel aground on Buxey Sands whereupon the volunteers from RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch were pleased to find the casualty fishermen all safe and well and reported into the Coastguard that the vessel would be re-floated on the incoming tide.
Unfortunately issues arose with the casualties engine and propeller and following assessment by the RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch volunteer helm it was decided that the best and safest course of action was to take the casualty under tow back into Burnham Marina where they arrived safely at approximately 4.30pm.
