Peterhead RNLI called out 3 times over last month

On Friday 30 June at 8:50pm, the Peterhead RNLI lifeboat was tasked by Aberdeen Coastguard at the request of the Police to conduct a coastal search south to Boddam. However, the lifeboat was shortly stood down and returned back to the station to be made ready for next service.

The Peterhead lifeboat was further requested on Friday 13^th July at 8:09pm after reports of two children in a small rowing boat who were struggling to make it back to the shore near the mouth of the River Ugie in Peterhead.

Following the launch of the lifeboat, the children were found safe and well by partner agencies, and the all-weather lifeboat was stood down and returned to the station to be made ready for next service.

On Monday 17 July at 7:20pm, during the station’s regular training exercise, the lifeboat were contacted by a small creel boat that had lost power and had drifted onto nearby rocks just outside Boddam.

The Peterhead RNLI crew alerted the Coastguard and launched to casualty vessel. Upon arrival, the crew assessed the situation and towed the creel boat off the rocks and stood by until another creel boat was able to assist to safely take over the tow and return the casualty to the harbour.

We would encourage everyone who finds themselves in difficulty out at sea to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.’
