Kyle of Lochalsh RNLI welcomes Gareth Morgan as new Lifeboat Operations Manager
The Kyle RNLI volunteers are delighted with the appointment of a new Operations Manager who will oversee the running of the lifeboat station
Gareth Morgan has been confirmed as the new Lifeboat Operations Manager (LOM) for Kyle of Lochalsh lifeboat station after the recent recruitment drive.
Gareth spent over thirty years in policing in a range of different forces and operational and strategic roles. He retired as the Chief Constable of Staffordshire Police in 2021 and was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in the 2022 New Years Honours List. Gareth and his wife Gill (and Ted the grumpy cairn terrier) relocated to Lochalsh where he has strong family connections through his mum’s family. He volunteers locally with a range of community groups and is a Director for the Lochalsh and Skye Housing Association, a trustee at the Kyle & Lochalsh Community Trust and the chair of SEALL who promote music and the performing arts across Skye and Lochalsh.
Speaking of his appointment, Gareth says: ‘I am delighted to take on the Local Operations Manager role with the RNLI at Kyle. The work the crew do locally to keep people safe and to save lives is very humbling. I want to build on the support and leadership they have benefited from previously to ensure that the lifeboat continues to provide this vital service in the community.’
