Five year old Oscar completes Mayday Mile challenge at RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch
On 31 May, members of RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch volunteer crew were delighted to welcome Oscar to their lifeboat station after completing his Mayday Mile challenge for the RNLI.
RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch crew members joined Oscar for the final mile of his long journey by walking with him to the lifeboat station where they were joined by other crew members to congratulate him and present Oscar with a Mayday Mile medal, a little reward pack and certificate for his tremendous effort in raising funds for the RNLI.
Oscar set out to walk at least a mile a day during May but he did not stop at 31, he carried on and reached almost 40 miles in total, putting that into perspective, that is close to one and a half marathons.
There was a little surprise for Oscar awaiting his arrival at the lifeboat station where he was greeted by his proud Mummy, Nanny and Granddad.
Oscar and his family then had a tour of the lifeboat station and were shown the Atlantic 85 and D class lifeboats which was a great way to celebrate his achievement of raising close to £1,700 for the RNLI.
Everyone at Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI says 'thank you Oscar for your tremendous achievement and we hope that you enjoyed your time with us here.'
