A call was received by HM Coastguard, from the occupants of the speedboat, that they had experienced engine failure at a position approximately four and a half miles Northwest of Trefor point and needed assistance.

The lifeboat with Second Coxswain Robert Jones at the helm, launched down it`s slipway at Porthdinllaen at 4:50 pm and made best possible speed towards the last known position of the casualty vessel. Utilizing the lifeboat radar, the vessel was quickly located. The coxswain assessed the situation and decided that a tow was the best course of action.

Trearddur Bay RNLI's inshore Atlantic class lifeboat was also launched, with the tow transferred over to them to safely take the craft and occupants over to Rhosneigr beach, handing them over to the local Coastguard team.

Ken Fitzpatrick, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Porthdinllaen said:

'We were glad to be of assistance today and thank our colleagues at Trearddur Bay lifeboat station for their assistance. Both volunteer teams carried out a textbook operation in a professional manner as usual.'
