RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch tasked twice by HM Coastguard in a little over 12 hours
The volunteer crew from RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch were first tasked at 11.10pm on Saturday 17 June to identify a suspicious package reported on the shore, close to Barrington Point near to the River Roach.
The Atlantic Class lifeboat Tony and Robert Britt was launched and proceeded to scene accompanied by a Police Officer.
The package was located and found not to be suspicious, whereupon the volunteer crew from RNLI Burnham-on-Crouch were stood down and returned to station.
Then, shortly after 1pm on Sunday 18 June, the volunteer crew were again tasked by HM Coastguard to assist a small white RIB with a fouled propeller on the north shore of the River Crouch close to the mouth of the River Roach with four people onboard, two adults and two children all wearing life jackets.
The Atlantic Class lifeboat Tony and Robert Britt was launched and proceeded to scene. After assessing the situation, it was decided that the safest course of action was to establish a tow line and the casualty RIB was successfully towed back into Burnham Marina.
