Borth RNLI launch to stranded motorboat
The owner of a motorboat, which was failing to restart, called HM Coastguard from their position near the fairway buoy Aberdyfi estuary late evening on Tuesday 13th June.
HM Coastguard requested Borth RNLI lifeboat to launch and the volunteer crew soon located the vessel and passengers, an adult and a young child who were well equipped, but the motorboat was confirmed a non-starter.
The helm assessed the situation and decided a tow was the best course of action. The volunteer crew established the tow and returned the vessel to the safety of the Leri Boatyard at Ynyslas.
RNLI Deputy Launch Authority, Phillipa Davies said:
‘The owner of the vessel had a fully charged mobile phone and signal and so was able to call for help swiftly when it was needed. This is a great reminder for those in boats to check they always have means of communication.’
