RNLI Tighnabruaich launch to aid stricken yacht on Loch Fyne
RNLI volunteers were requested by HM Coastguard to launch the inshore lifeboat on Wednesday 22 February to assist a vessel with steering failure drifting on Loch Fyne. The 8m single handed yacht was being blown toward the Kintyre shore around a mile south of Tarbert and had requested assistance.
A passing yacht had taken the casualty vessel under tow to slow its progress toward the coastline when the Atlantic 85 lifeboat arrived on scene and, in a strong northerly breeze, took over the tow.
They proceeded to Tarbert harbour where the casualty was safely berthed and handed over to Tarbert Coastguard Rescue Team.
The lifeboat returned to station where the boat was refuelled and made ready for next service. If you are in trouble on the water, or see someone else in need of assistance, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
