Shelf Drilling Fortress donate to Invergordon Lifeboat Station

Shelf Drilling have recently donated over £1900 to the local charity that saves lives at sea by supporting Invergordon RNLI in a raffle held on-board.

Darren Richardson, Rig Manager with Shelf Drilling handed over a very generous donation to Invergordon Lifeboat Station on Wednesday 19th April in a presentation on the bow of the Shannon Class Lifeboat ‘Agnes AP Barr’ in Invergordon’s West Harbour.

The crew of the Jack-Up Drilling Rig ‘Shelf Drilling Fortress’ raised £1923.50 and €53.00 as part of the crew Welfare and Recreational Committee Christmas Fundraising Raffle held over the festive period on board the rig.

Invergordon RNLI Coxswain Andrew Murray who was there to accept the donation said: 'We are very grateful and wish to express our thanks to Darren and his crew on-board the Shelf Drilling Fortress for their efforts in raising such an incredible amount and generously donating this amount to the charity. This donation will help us save lives at sea and assist with volunteer crew training.’

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 142,700 lives.
