Kirkwall RNLI launch twice in 24 hours

Kirkwall RNLI lifeboat was launched on Sunday 21 May 2023, to assist a casualty at their vessel off Burgh Head Stronsay.

The Kirkwall RNLI lifeboat was launched at 3:06pm and arrived on scene at 3:27pm. The casualty was taken aboard the lifeboat and given immediate medical attention by the lifeboat crew. The lifeboat returned to Kirkwall RNLI Lifeboat Station and transferred to awaiting medical care.

On Monday 22 May, the RNLI Kirkwall lifeboat launched at 1:16pm to take up the the tow of a casualty vessel from North Shapinsay to Shapinsay pier. The casualty vessel was safely moored up at 2pm and the lifeboat returned to the station to be made ready for next service.

Kirkwall RNLI Lifeboat Station will be hosting an Open Day on Saturday 27 May, between 11am and 3pm. The Open Day is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the RNLI and its volunteers, and to show your support for the charity that saves lives at sea.
