Invergordon RNLI mark the third anniversary of Launch a Memory
Invergordon’s volunteer crew, tour guides and fundraiser team came together to pay respect to the 9500 additional crewmates who sail on the hull of the station’s Shannon class lifeboat.
The crew assembled by the full decal sign at the front of the lifeboat station, which is an exact replica of the charities Shannon Lifeboat ‘Agnes AP Barr’ hull numbers, (RNLI 13-37) complete with all the names on the RNLI's first Launch a Memory campaign to show their respect.
Once the volunteers had gathered, Lifeboat Operations Manager (LOM) Eddy Fowler placed a memorial wreath in decorative lifeboat colours to remember those named on the port and starboard sides of the hull followed by a minute's silence.
Invergordon RNLI LOM Eddy Fowler said: “It was an honour and privilege to place the wreath and remember those who sail with us each time the lifeboat goes to sea. It has been three years since the Shannon came on station in November 2020 and it has been heart-warming to know that since station has opened its doors to guided tours this has offered visitors the opportunity to learn about the station, the lifeboat, its capabilities and remember their loved ones on the hull. We look forward to welcoming more visitors in 2024 when the tours reopen.”
